Active Travel for the Adventurous Tourist
Nava Zvaig lives in Tel Aviv. Isreal. She has traveled extensively during
here life time. This included sleeping in my and Pam's extra bedroom,
downstairs. She managed quite well.
Deserts and Wadis are not places to which I normally travel. So, it was
great to enjoy her trip through her pictures.
When I looked at the pictures that she posted on-line I was quite taken
by the scenery and challenge of her trip to Wadi Mishmar. A Wadi is
defined as: "the bed or valley of a stream in regions of southwestern
Asia and northern Africa that is usually dry except during the rainy
season and that often forms an oasis." (See the Free Merriam-Webster
Dictionary).
Wadi Mishmar is located by the Dead Sea in the Judean desert which
is east of Tel Aviv. I found numerous reports by birding groups that
visited this area. However, I don't think that was what Nava had in mind.
Here's the road that leads to the Wadi.
Inside the Canyon leading to the Wadi.
The metal rungs that help individuals climb to
the top of the cliff. I wondered, "Who put them
there?"
