The Place where we talk about the ideas, issues and trends that shape your everyday life.

This river, the Nenana river, is located immediately adjacent to Denali National Park and Preserve and passes by the McKinley Village where the Host had an overnight stay. The river is glacier fed. There was a sign saying that a Grizzly bear had recently been seen immediately by this property. This river is beautiful and the area is dangerous..

Traveling the World"

Traveling is not just seeing the new; it is also leaving behind. Not just opening doors; also closing them behind you, never to return. But the place you have left forever is always there for you to see whenever you shut your eyes." Jan Myrdal, The Silk Road, 1980

Ectourism - What does it mean and why should I be an ecotourist?

Tourism has been growing at a phenomenal rate around the world. The International Ecotourism Society reports that "The U.S. ranks first globally for international tourist receipts and third for international tourist arrivals throughout the world in 2003.

More than three-quarters of U.S. travelers "feel it is important during their visits not to damage the environment," according to a 2003 study. This study estimates that 17 million U.S. travelers consider environmental factors when deciding which travel companies to patronize.

There are a lot of things to learn about the world's people. Sometimes this requires knowing a little language but on some occassions you get by on the English language. Here are a few of the places that the host, Wayne Potter, and his wife, Pam has visited. Take a few moments to check out the photographs of the people they met and interviewed.

Pam and Wayne are panning for gold at an old placcer mining area in Fairbanks, Alaska. They did find some gold.
