On February 4, 2004 Global Warming Still continutes to be an issueHow have organizations and indivuals addressed the effects of green house gases? On this edition of Keeping Kurrent Michael Armstrong of the City of Portland's Office of Sustainable Development, Sam Saddler, Oregon Energy Office, and Laura Culbertson of the National Environmental Trust talk about their views on global warming. In addition, there is additional information about President George W. Bush's view on the Kyoto Protocol in a letter to some U.S. Congressman. Also, information about how environmentalists are attempting to enact state legislation which will reduce energy use at the state level. The reason that this is happening is explained in this statement from a New York Times article about energy reduction efforts. Kit Kennedy with the Natural Resources Defense Council said, "In an ideal world you want standards.... In an ideal world the Department of Energy is doing its job, setting standards and keeping up with schedules. But in the world we live in, the Department of Energy is sitting on its hands."
